英语诗歌同中文诗歌一样像颗颗光华灿烂的明珠，又似支支美秒绝伦的乐曲。学生从英文文字符号阅读开始，跟着文字在诗人想象的时空驰骋，从而丰富了学生的审美感受，培养了学生的审美创造力。
英语诗歌各家风格不同，有的触景生情，有的感悟言志，有的沉思冥想,有的满腔孤愤，他们是对真、善、美的讴歌也是对人类精神文明的礼赞，是人类文明进步的标志。因此，从诗歌中学生可以感受到精神文化，培养学生的人文情怀。郑州市第七高级中学王保军校长提出的三度教学的“深度”教学，其核心就是要提高学生的学科素养能力与思维品质，而人文素养的培养正是对提高学生的学科素养能力和思维品质的关键点之一。
校园电视台 英语诗歌比赛现场
郑州市第七高级中学高二年级在这学期的课本学习的第二单元正好学到了Poetry这个话题，课本中的几首诗不仅让学生对英语语言的学习有了耳目一新的感觉，而且激发了学生对英文诗歌的朗诵和鉴赏兴趣，因此，为了让学生更好地体会英语诗歌的魅力，提高高中生的英语诗歌鉴赏能力，营造浓厚的校园学习氛围，让更多的学生展现英语风采，培养学生的人文情怀，践行王校长的三度教学在平时的落实，2020年12月29日下午，高二年级在校电视台举行了与诗歌同行--英语诗歌朗诵比赛，来自高二年级20个班级的32名同学参与了比赛，并由高二英语教研组的十位老师组成的评委团进行点评与打分。
主持人宣布比赛规则
活动伊始，主持人宣布活动正式开始并宣读此次朗诵比赛的目的与规则。然后由参赛选手们按照抽签顺序进行比赛，并由教研组老师进行评分，选手们精神饱满、富有感染力的朗诵让听众体验了一场声音盛宴。
学生作品 As I Began to Love Myself
学生们个个才华横溢、文字激扬，表演或慷慨激昂或轻柔舒缓，真诚的演绎了他们对诗歌的一片热情，对英语学习的深度开展，对生活的热爱与对梦想的追求。学生们选的英文诗歌不仅有朗朗上口的韵律，而且有跳跃的词汇，诵读时，抑扬顿挫，好似在音韵中舞蹈，妙趣横生。这样的比赛不仅可以让学生感受到英语语言的优美，更能激发学生的积极情感和态度，提高英语学习的兴趣；对诗歌的朗诵也是培养学生的审美鉴赏力。

其中学生组合作品《我和我的祖国》让我们又重回祖国开国大典的盛况，表达了学生对祖国无限热爱与崇敬，也有莎士比亚的经典诗作SONNET 18，让我们又重温英语古诗词的经典与魅力，还有创意Rap “WHAT ARRIVE”，给予英文诗歌另类的演绎，英文诗歌版的《面朝大海，春暖花开》让听众换了一种思维再一次感受海子对生活的期许和向往，而英文诗歌THIS IS A WAR，AND WE ARE ALL FIGHTERS展示了我们众志成城战胜新冠的决心！

活动最后，备课组长仝慧娟宣布获奖名单及颁奖仪式，并对此次活动进行总结，至此，历时一个半小时的英语诗歌朗诵比赛圆满结束，比赛虽然结束了，但美妙的诗歌旋律依然还在，希望学生们在繁忙的学习中，脚踏实地，仰望星空，“生活不止有眼前的苟且，还有诗与远方”！新的一年让诗歌伴我们同行！
